Pune Police Initiates Steps To Revoke Licenses Of Six Rooftop Bars In Viman Nagar For Sound Pollution And Late-Night Operations

Pune, 31st August 2023: In a significant development, the Pune Police has taken a decisive step towards addressing concerns related to sound pollution and extended late-night operations by sending formal letters to the Pune Excise Department.
The letters, submitted on August 18, 2023, call for the revocation of licenses held by six popular rooftop bars located within the Viman Nagar area.
The establishments under scrutiny are:
1: The Tipsy Horse
2: The Mafia Sky Lounge
3: Backstage Lounge & Bar
4: Rude Lounge
5: Atmosphere 6
6: Escada All Day Kitchen & Bar
Currently holding FL 3 licenses, these establishments have been on the radar of the authorities due to their repeated engagement in activities leading to sound pollution and operating beyond the stipulated permissible hours.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Shashikant Borate spearheaded the move and highlighted the proactive stance of the police force in monitoring and addressing issues arising from these bars’ operations.
DCP Borate stated, “We have been meticulously monitoring the activities of these establishments and the impact they have on the surrounding areas. The consistent sound pollution and disregard for operational timings have prompted us to take this action.”
The concerns surrounding these bars’ activities have been communicated to key authorities, including the Commissioner of Police, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and the Pune Excise Department. The police’s formal request for license revocation underscores the gravity of the situation and the determination to mitigate the negative impact on the local community.
An official from the Pune Excise Department confirmed that all pertinent details have been diligently submitted to the District Collector’s office. The Collector holds the authority to make decisive judgments concerning the revocation of licenses.
