Pune Police Interact With Baner, Balewadi Residents To Discuss Issues They Face Regularly; Soon Joint Meeting Of Police, Excise Dept And PMC To Be Held

Pune Police Interact With Baner, Balewadi Residents

Pune, 18th December 2022: A meeting between citizens and Pune Police officers took place yesterday at the Balewadi Police Chowki. Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhre in-charge of Chatushrungi police station and Assistant Police Inspector Rajkumar Kendre were present.

 

Representatives of Baner Balewadi Pashan Residents Association, Aundh Vikas Mandal, Balewadi Welfare Federation, Aundh Baner Pashan Area Sabha, Navchaitanya Senior Citizens Club, Pune Mahila Mandal – Baner Balewadi chapter, United Balewadi Group, along with Chairmans and secretaries of various societies were also present.

 

The police and citizens discussed various issues –

 

1. Loud music

 

2. Young boys and girls drinking and sitting in cars after the bars/pubs are closed

 

3. Areas which are prone to goons

 

4. Hooliganism

 

5. Open alcohol consumption at various Dark Spots like open plots, unused amenity spaces, bi-lanes, and the famous Samiksha spot

 

6. Rowdy people

 

7. Issues of drinking and driving

 

8. Wrong-side driving

 

9. Boundary issues between Hinjewadi police and Balewadi Police when dialling 100 and 112

 

10. Mobile thefts at weekly bazaars (markets)

 

11. Activating the Senior Citizens and Women help cells like Bharosa at the police station level

“Our area is diverse, having various commercial establishments, pubs, bars, many restaurants, hotels and Oyo, housing societies, slums, Labour camps, hostels, bungalows, and old and new developments. Therefore, the issues are also different,” representatives said.

 

In reply to this, Inspector Pandhre assured he will personally look into all this, and the DB team will be roped in whenever needed. He expressed his gratitude towards citizens for coming together and organising such a dialogue. He focused on increasing patrolling and curbing the nuisance and hooliganism. Strict action will be taken on the commercial establishments that cause a nuisance to residents.

He also said that the Shantata Committee, which includes eminent and socially active citizens, will be restructured, acting as a thread between residents and police.

 

He also focused on issuing Identity cards and registering senior citizens with the police station for better communication and help.

Naka Bandi will be done from time to time. Monthly review meetings with residents will be organised.

 

He also mentioned that along with the police, the excise department plays an important role in keeping a strict watch on the Bars and Wine shops; they also need to be roped in. Therefore, a joint meeting of the Police, Excise dept, and PMC officials will be organised soon.
