Pune Police Make Changes In Night Curfew, People Can Travel But Not Gather In Group

Pune, December 27, 2020: Pune city police have made minor changes in the night curfew order which is in force in Pune city till January 5. The night curfew is from 11 pm to 6 am. In curfew, nobody is allowed to come out of the home except those engaged in essential services.

Now Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Ravindra Shisve has issued another order which states, “Not more than four persons can gather at a place or travel. The curfew order will be strictly enforced and those found violating it will be prosecuted for the offence under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”

“People can travel for a valid reason only. We advise people not to go out of home unnecessarily during curfew hours”, Jt CP Shisve told Punekarnews.in.

The order will help people travel who have valid tickets. They can show the ticket while going to the railway station or coming from the railway station when asked by police. Employees working in shifts can also travel between home and office but not in groups. People can also travel in case of medical emergencies.

Officials said that the Maharashtra state government ordered to impose curfew to restrict gatherings during new year celebrations in the backdrop of Coronavirus pandemic. Pune district administration will impose curfew in Bhima Koregaon and nearby villages to restrict gathering at Vijaystambh at Perne Phata on January 1. Pune-Ahmednagar highway will be closed for traffic from 6 pm on December 31 to 12 pm on January 1. Also, there are plans to impose curfew in tourist places like Lonavala, Mulshi and others.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the total number of Coronavirus positive patients till date has reached 177,580 out of which 168,692 have been cured while 4604 have died. There are still 4284 active patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals. They include 389 critical patients out of which 229 are on ventilator support.
