Pune, 28th October 2021: Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta today said that another case might be registered against Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) witness Kiran Gosavi for abusing and threatening the complainant in cheating case registered with Faraskhana police station here.

Gosavi came into the limelight earlier this month when he shared a selfie with actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan who is arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs case. Gosavi (37), a resident of Vashi in Navi Mumbai, is a NCB ‘panch’ witness in the case.

Earlier in 2018, an FIR was registered against Gosavi at Faraskhana police station under Pune city police for allegedly duping a youth of Rs three lakh under the pretext of helping him get a job in Malaysia.

Addressing a press conference, Police Commissioner Gupta said that Gosavi had been absconding since 2018 in the cheating case. After his photo went viral in Aryan Khan drugs case, Gosavi went into hiding. We had formed many teams to nab him. Around 3 am today, we caught him at a lodge in Katraj area of Pune city.

He further informed that during his run Gosavi had visited Fatehpur, Jabalpur, Hyderabad, Jalgaon and many other locations.

“Gosavi impersonated as Sachin Patil to stay in hotels. He used to tell his identity as member of some NGO and organisations. He is in the buisness of metal export and import”, Gupta said.

When asked if Mumbai Police or NCB has sought Gosavi’s custody, Gupta said that till now no agency has sought his custody.

Gupta further said that the complainant in the cheating case has alleged that he was abused and threatened as well by Gosavi and if he complains, we will register case accordingly.
There may be many more victims and if they come forward, we will file more cases against Gosavi.

Before being arrested, Gosavi had released a video stating that all allegations against him are false. He also said that there was no talk of money demand to Shah Rukh Khan. He appealed politicians in power and opposition to stand by him.

The Crime Branch anti-extortion cell 1 team which arrested Gosavi included Police Inspector Vinayak Betal, API Sandip Buwa and policemen Sanjay Bhapkar and Chavan.

The action was taken under the guidance of Jt CP Ravindra Shisve, Additional CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP (crime) Shriniwas Ghadge and ACP Laxman Borate.
