Pune Police Nab Wanted Offender with 920 gm Drugs, Country-Made Pistol
Pune, 24th April 2026 : Wanowrie police have arrested a wanted habitual offender and seized contraband weighing 920 grams along with a country-made pistol from his house, with the total value of the recovered material estimated at around Rs 28 lakh.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Akram Aziz Sheikh, a resident of Gultekdi in Pune. He was absconding in a narcotics trafficking case registered at Wanowrie police station.
Police said the investigation team received information that Sheikh would be visiting the Camp area on April 21. Acting on the tip-off, a trap was laid and he was taken into custody from the Camp locality.
During a subsequent search of his residence, police recovered 920 grams of a suspected narcotic powder valued at Rs 27.60 lakh. They also seized a country-made pistol, one magazine and seven live cartridges worth Rs 47,000.
The action was executed by the investigation team led by Assistant Police
Inspector Umakant Mahadik, Police Sub-Inspector Alfaz Sheikh and other police personnel.
