Pune Police Night Drive Targets Black Spots, Over 70 Offenders Booked Across Zone 1

Pune, 11th April 2026: To maintain law and order and curb anti-social activities, the Pune City Police executed a massive night-time combing and search operation across the Zone 1 jurisdiction on Friday evening.
Conducted between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, the surprise drive targeted open grounds, isolated “black spots,” and public spaces to prevent illicit activities and ensure citizen safety.
The sweeping operation covered the territorial limits of six major police stations: Faraskhana, Samarth, Khadak, Vishrambaug, Deccan, and Shivajinagar.
During the three-hour drive, police teams inspected 42 vulnerable public locations and registered a flurry of offences against violators. The official breakdown of the actions taken includes:
3 cases under Section 285 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
12 cases under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
31 actions against motorists for triple-seat riding.
22 cases under the Maharashtra Police Act.
2 offenses under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
4 offenses under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act for illegal liquor activities.

The special drive was initiated under the strict directives of Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. The operation was mapped out and guided by Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma and Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajesh Bansode.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale supervised the entire on-ground execution. The aggressive patrolling, vehicle checks, and raids were actively carried out by the Senior Police Inspectors, In-Charge Officers, and on-duty police personnel from all the police stations within Zone 1.
