Budhwar Peth, 11th April 2026: A case has been registered against a Pune-based television reporter for allegedly recording a woman without her consent in a private room at a city lodge, police officials said.

According to an FIR lodged at Vishram Baug Police Station, Rohan Rajendra Kadam (28), a journalist associated with a news channel, along with three others, has been named as an accused. He has been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Section 77, which pertains to voyeurism.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Kadam and others filmed her while she was with her partner inside a lodge room. She stated that the accused attempted to capture visuals during moments where she had a reasonable expectation of privacy, including while changing clothes and using the washroom.

Police have also invoked Section 3(5) of the BNS, which deals with offences committed by multiple persons with common intent, holding all those involved accountable.

According to sources, the incident came to light when the woman realised she was being recorded and alerted the lodge staff, leading to a confrontation at the premises.

Meanwhile, a city-based NCP politician has alleged that the lodge belongs to her relative and claimed that the incident may have been an attempt to defame her at the behest of another politician, as she had been raising the Ashok Kharat matter. Police said they are also examining this angle as part of the ongoing investigation.

Further investigation is underway.
