Pune Police Raid in Wanowrie: Illegal Hookah Lounge Busted, Four Booked Under Tobacco Act

Wanowrie, 12th May 2025: The Wanowrie Police conducted a surprise raid at Spicy Floor Café and Cloud Kitchen, located on the second floor of Super Mall on Salunkhe Vihar Road, following a tip-off about illegal hookah services being offered on the premises. Acting on information received by Police Constables Amol Pilane and Abhijeet Chavan, Police Sub-Inspector Dhanaji Tone coordinated with senior officers before launching the operation.

During the raid, officers found four individuals, Narayan Magar Thapa (33), Chandan Kumar Shritevan Rai (22), Inayat Majid Salla (52), and Javed Malik Sheikh (42), in possession of tobacco-based hookah flavors and related equipment, which were being sold to customers in violation of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Smoking and Tobacco Products Act of 2018. Police seized hookah materials worth Rs 3,215 on the spot.

A case has been registered at Wanowrie Police Station under Sections 4(a) and 21(a) of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Smoking and Tobacco Products Act of 2018, and all four accused have been served notices under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita of 2023.
