Kondhwa, 2 March 2021: In a post-midnight raid, Pune city police swooped down on Club 24 Lounge & Pub located near Dorabjee Paradise, off NIBM Road, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The administration has set an 11 pm deadline for hotels to close due to rising Coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases.

A team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Namrata Patil conducted the raid. Police had earlier received many complaints from local residents about the late night functioning of the pub.

An FIR has been registered at Kondhwa police station against the hotel license holder Amar Khanderao Latore, pub manager Chintamani Ravi Shetty and four other staff besides 98 patrons. They have been charged for offences under sections 188, 269, 270, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act, Epidemic Diseases Act, Disaster Management Act and Maharashtra COVID-19 Regulations.

According to police, the pub was operating beyond the 11 pm deadline set by the District Collector and Joint Commissioner of Police. The raid was conducted one and half hours after the deadline and about 100 people were found there.

“Further action against the pub will be taken after receiving its documents from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)”, DCP Patil said.
