Pune Police Recover Rs 48 Lakh Fine From Vehicle Owners for Violating Lockdown Rules
Pune, August 26, 2020: A total of 36,318 vehicles have been returned to the owners after completing the legal process by the police for violating the lockdown rules. A fine of Rs 48.7 lakh has been recovered from them.
A curfew was imposed in the city in March after the lockdown was imposed. Police confiscated the vehicles of the drivers who left the house without any reason except for essential services. A total of 36,870 vehicles were seized by the police. Notices were issued to the citizens who left without any reason. The seized vehicles were kept in the premises of the police station. Meanwhile, the owners had demanded the return of the vehicles after the Central and State Governments relaxed the restrictions.
Accordingly, the police went followed the legal process and started returning the vehicles. So far 36,318 vehicles have been returned. A fine of Rs 48 lakh has been recovered from them, police said.
Most of the vehicles seized in the lockout have been returned to their original owners. So far, 500 drivers have not returned to take back their vehicles. The police have appealed to them to pay the fine and take back the vehicles after completing the necessary legal process.
