Pune Police Return 148 Lost Mobile Phones Worth Rs 31 Lakh to Owners

Pune, 10th August 2026: Pune City Police returned 148 lost mobile phones, collectively valued at approximately ₹31 lakh, to their owners on Monday following a special recovery drive conducted by the Crime Branch.
According to Pune Police, the phones were traced through the CEIR portal after complaints were received about mobile devices lost at various locations across the city. Crime Branch officials subsequently recovered the devices and handed them over to the complainants on August 10.
Several recipients became emotional upon being reunited with their phones. They thanked Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and praised the city police for their efforts.
The special drive was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tejaswi Satpute, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-3) Shankar Khatke and Police Inspector Sachin Lokhande.
Police personnel responsible for monitoring the CEIR portal and officers from Crime Branch Units 1 to 7 participated in the operation.
Pune police have been using the CEIR portal to trace mobile phones reported lost or stolen by tracking and blocking the devices through their unique identification numbers.
