Rs 37 Lakh Jewellery Recovered as Pune Police Arrest Four in Nine Burglary Cases
Pune, 10th August 2026: Vishrambag police have arrested four men allegedly involved in a series of burglaries and chain-snatching offences in Pune and recovered gold and silver jewellery worth approximately ₹37 lakh, officials said on Monday.
The arrested suspects were identified as Shankarsingh alias Kunalsingh Jitendrasingh Juni (27), a resident of Ramtekdi in Hadapsar; Ranbirsingh Dhansingh Bawari Shikaligar (26), a resident of Vadodara in Gujarat; Akshaysingh alias Akshay Birusinh Juni (22), a resident of Birajdar Nagar in Hadapsar; and Sonusingh Shakhasingh Shikaligar alias Tilpitiya (22), also from Vadodara.
According to police, the investigation began after a house was burgled while its occupants were away. A case was registered at Vishrambag police station under Sections 305(a), 331(3) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap directed a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Umesh Karake to investigate the case. Police constable Nitin Mundhe subsequently received information from a confidential source that the suspects had been seen in the Undri-Pisoli area.
A police team searched the area, but the suspects allegedly kept changing their location. Officers later received information that they were travelling on a motorcycle along a road near the hills in Undri-Pisoli. The team surrounded the vehicle and detained all four men, police said.
During questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted their involvement in the Vishrambag burglary. A subsequent investigation linked them to nine offences registered at Vishrambag, Vishrantwadi, Kalepadal and Dattawadi police stations, according to the press release.
The cases include five registered at Vishrambag police station, two at Kalepadal police station and one each at Vishrantwadi and Dattawadi police stations.
Police said gold and silver ornaments valued at around ₹37 lakh were seized from the accused. Further investigation is underway to determine whether they were involved in other offences.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuja Deshmane.
The investigating team comprised Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap, Police Inspector (Crime) Vikas Bhingardive, Police Inspector (Crime) Ramesh Lahigude, Assistant Police Inspector Umesh Karake, Police Sub-Inspector Mehboob Mokashi, and police personnel Sachin Kadam, Nitin Mundhe, Amol Bhosale, Mahesh Kadam, Shashikant Darekar, Shailesh Surve, Sachin Ahiwale, Kailas Dukare, Zakir Maniyar, Anis Shaikh, Shiva Gaikwad, Arjun Thorat, Sagar More, Firoz Inamdar and Nitin Babar.
