Pimpri, 8th September 2023: In a significant operation, the local police have arrested two individuals for trafficking mephedrone (MD) and opium smuggled from Rajasthan into IT Park in Hinjawadi. The Pimpri Chinchwad police confiscated 61 grams of mephedrone and 1.705 kilograms of opium powder, with an estimated value of Rs 3.39 lakh.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Ravi Prakash Sukhram Bishnoi and Suresh Kumar Sairam Bishnoi, both hailing from Philodi, Rajasthan. Additionally, a case has been registered at the Hinjawadi police station against Sonu Jalora and Jaiprakash Bishnoi, partners from Rajasthan and Hinjawadi, respectively, who allegedly provided the drugs to the arrested individuals.
In light of these events, Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey has urged the public to remain vigilant and promote awareness, particularly among young men and women working in Hinjawadi’s IT Park, to prevent them from falling into the trap of addiction, often fueled by work-related stress.
The Anti-Narcotics Squad from the Crime Branch was conducting patrols within the jurisdiction of the Hinjewadi police station when they received information about the drug sale taking place in Bavdhan, along the Mumbai-Bangalore highway. Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap and apprehended the suspects while in possession of the illicit substances.
