Pune: Police Seize Pistol And live Cartridges From Accused Who Fired In Air To Assert Dominance In Sangvi Area

Sangvi, 21st April 2023: Pimpri Chinchwad police have made a breakthrough in the case of firing in the air to maintain dominance in Sangvi area, by arresting two accused persons. The accused have been identified as Sujal Rajendra Gill (18) and Rihan Arif Sheikh (19).

Sujal, who resides in Vinayaknagar, Sangvi, has been accused of repeatedly harassing people in the old Sangvi area with the help of his accomplices. On the night of April 16, Sujal fired in the air at 11:30 PM to maintain his dominance in the area, causing terror among the residents. This act was dangerous to public peace and safety and the Sangvi police immediately launched a search for the accused.

On Monday night, the police received a tip-off that Sujal had come to the road at Ganpati Visarjan Ghat in Sangvi. The police laid a trap and detained Sujal and his accomplice Rihan. During the search, the police seized one country-made pistol worth Rs 25,000, two live cartridges, and a two-wheeler worth Rs 46,000 from the accused.

The police have booked both Sujal and Rihan under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. The arrests have come as a relief to the residents of Sangvi area, who have been living in fear due to the repeated acts of terror by Sujal and his accomplices.
