Pune Police to Prosecute Builder for Allowing Son to Drive Porsche That Killed Two, Bar Owner for Serving Liquor

Kalyani Nagar, 19th May 2024: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has announced that action is being taken against a builder who allowed his minor son to drive a car that killed two people in Kalyani Nagar today. The owner of a bar in Koregaon Park, where the boy was served liquor, will also face action.

“In the accident case, the father of the accused and the bar which served liquor to the juvenile/accused are being proceeded against under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act,” stated the city police chief.

Section 75 states, “Punishment for cruelty to child.”

Section 77 states, “Whoever gives, or causes to be given, to any child any intoxicating liquor or any narcotic drug or tobacco products or psychotropic substance, except on the order of a duly qualified medical practitioner, shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend up to one lakh rupees.”

Around 3 am today, near Landmark Society on Kalyani Nagar – Airport Road, a Porsche car driven by the minor driver hit a bike, resulting in the deaths of Ashwini Koshta (24), a native of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, and Anis Avdhiya (24) from Pali in Madhya Pradesh. The accused, aged 17 years and eight months, is the son of builder Vishal Agarwal of Bramha Realty.

The accused was detained by the Yerwada police station and produced before a holiday magistrate court, which released him on bail. His blood sample has been collected for an alcohol test, but the report is yet to be received. According to the police, he had visited a pub in Koregaon Park before the accident.

Additionally, the Porsche car, which was recently purchased, has not yet received a registration number from the RTO.
