Pune, 16th July 2026: In a major push to make Pune drug-free, the Pune City Police has launched a comprehensive outreach initiative to strengthen coordination with schools and colleges across the city.

As part of the campaign, a special interaction was held with principals, teachers, and management representatives of educational institutions at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that under the ‘Campus Connect’ initiative, educational institutions will play an active role in creating awareness among students on the dangers of drug abuse, while also promoting discipline, cyber safety, women’s safety, and traffic awareness.

“Through the Campus Connect initiative, we aim to build stronger partnerships with schools and colleges to educate students about the harmful effects of drugs and encourage responsible behaviour. Educational institutions are key stakeholders in making Pune a drug-free city,” said Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Pune.

To improve coordination, the Pune City Police will create WhatsApp groups involving police stations, police outposts, and the management of schools and colleges. These groups will facilitate quicker communication and help address local issues through coordinated action.

Commissioner Kumar said that over the next month, police officers will visit all schools and colleges in the city to interact with students, teachers, and management teams as part of the awareness drive.

Reiterating the police department’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, Kumar said strict action is being taken against drug peddlers and identified drug hotspots across Pune.

“Pune Police has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against the sale and consumption of drugs. We are taking action against drug peddlers and hotspots on a war footing. I appeal to students and parents to embrace the message of ‘Say No to Drugs’ and actively support this campaign,” Kumar said.

The initiative is part of the Pune Police’s broader strategy to curb drug abuse through community participation and preventive awareness, with educational institutions expected to play a central role in reaching young people.
