Pune, November 14, 2020: Acting tough against the mask violators, the Pune Police have so far recovered more than Rs six crore in the form of fine from people for not wearing masks. Some amount collected will be used towards the welfare and development for cops and the police stations in the city.

The cops are going to get a few crores of this amount and every police station will be given Rs three lakhs for development works.

Speaking about the same, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said, “Out of whatever fine we have collected, we are going to get half the amount and we are in a position to decide as to what we will do of the same. I am planning to use the amount for small welfare schemes and developmental activities for the cops and police stations.”

Pune Mayor, Muralidhar Mohol speaking about the violations said, “Most people are complying to the norm of wearing the mask and those aren’t, they are being punished for the same. Till today more than two lakh cases have been reported by both Police and PMC, and an amount of more than Rs six crores has been collected.”

Mohol further said, “The covid-19 cases in the city are surely on a plunging side, but we need to ensure that we continue taking precautions we used to when the infection was rising.”
