Pune: Policeman Accepts Bribe From Colleague Through PhonePe

Pune, 29th June 2021: A Policeman at Warje-Malwadi police station under Pune city police allegedly accepted a bribe from a colleague through PhonePe. The incident came to light after the colleague lodged a complaint in this regard.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Pournima Gaikwad suspended the policeman who accepted the bribe.

According to the information given by police, Pramod Kokate who is a policeman at Warje-Malwadi police station was in charge of assigning duties to other police personnel. He was deliberately mentally torturing the complainant and demanded a bribe from him. The complainant gave the money by PhonePe app in November 2019 and on 14th January 2020. He also attached screenshots of transactions with the complaint application.

During the enquiry, Kokate failed to prove that he did not accept the bribe. Therefore it was proved in a primary investigation that Kokate has taken the bribe and he was suspended.
