Kondhwa, 3rd August 2023: Residents and commuters in the Kondhwa area of Pune are facing significant challenges due to the deplorable state of the road leading from Punyadham Ashram via Dasharath Maral Chowk, specifically Dhondiba Mahadu Kamthe road.

Citizens have expressed their dismay, claiming that the road has practically been washed away, yet the municipal administration remains indifferent to the issue. Calls for immediate repair measures have been growing, as the rainy season exacerbates the road’s deterioration, leaving long and hazardous potholes in the vicinity of Inspira Society after passing in front of D Mart.

Motorists have to navigate through treacherous stretches, unsure whether they are driving on a road or within potholes. Furthermore, post-rain conditions are worsening the road’s state, with a significant amount of water flowing through it due to the absence of proper drainage. This has caused the road to disintegrate rapidly, creating an unsafe passage for citizens traveling to Mohammadwadi. Many citizens have suffered injuries after falling on these roads.

Loose gravel is making the ride risky on Undri Road near Country Club. Riders are facing hardship due to the loose gravel on the road. On Thursday morning, a motorcyclist got hurt as his moped skidded.

The road serves as a major route for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, necessitating immediate and permanent measures to address the issue. Despite numerous complaints, the authorities have yet to make any significant improvements.

Rainwater accumulation in several pits has become a nuisance, resulting in water splashing onto bike riders, pedestrians, and students, adding to the road’s woes.

While the road is part of the development plan, it lacks a proper rainwater drainage system, leading to its current dilapidated condition. The absence of a rainwater channel has hindered the progress of repair work, as incorporating it in the middle of the road would disrupt traffic flow.

Sidram Patil, Branch Engineer of the Road Department at the Municipal Corporation, acknowledged the need for immediate action and assured that potholes would be filled promptly. However, due to the complexity of the situation, including the lack of space for a rainwater channel, the repair work has experienced delays.

Citizens are urging the municipal administration to address the road’s issues urgently and implement comprehensive solutions to prevent further damage and inconvenience to the public.
