Pune Porsche Case: Labour Contractor Paid Rs 2 Lakh to Manipulate Minor’s Blood Sample – Police
Pune, 11th January 2025: In a shocking twist to last year’s May 19 Porsche Taycan crash case that claimed the lives of two young software engineers, Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhiya, in Kalyaninagar, the Pune Police have revealed in a supplementary chargesheet that a labour contractor paid ₹2 lakh to manipulate his minor son’s blood sample. The contractor allegedly directed an employee to transfer the amount to a co-accused’s bank account to facilitate the manipulation.
The accident involved a high-end Porsche Taycan driven by a builder’s 17-year-old son, accompanied by two other minors. The investigation uncovered a conspiracy to tamper with the blood samples of the three minors to obstruct justice.
The latest chargesheet, filed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ganesh Ingale, follows two earlier chargesheets in the case. The main chargesheet, filed on July 26, 2024, named seven accused, including the teenage driver’s parents, two doctors, a mortuary staffer from Sassoon General Hospital (all now suspended), and two agents who facilitated the illegal transactions.
The first supplementary chargesheet, submitted on November 15, 2024, implicated an aviation spares firm owner and a jeweller-realtor who allegedly provided their blood samples for substitution. Both were arrested on August 19, 2024.
In the latest development, the police have focused on the labour contractor, who was arrested on November 7, 2024, after exhausting all anticipatory bail options up to the Supreme Court. His bank records showed a ₹2 lakh transfer to a co-accused’s account, allegedly used to manipulate the blood sample of his son.
“We have verified the ₹2 lakh transaction through the contractor’s bank statement,” said ACP Ganesh Ingale. “WhatsApp chats between the contractor and the co-accused further confirm their complicity. Additionally, we recorded the statement of the contractor’s employee, who executed the transfer on his employer’s instructions.”
Ingale also confirmed that the police are opposing the bail plea of the labour contractor and the discharge plea of suspended Sassoon Hospital doctor, Dr. Ajay Taware. “We have substantial evidence to prove their involvement in the crime,” Ingale said. Both pleas are scheduled for hearing on January 15, 2025.
The fatal incident occurred on May 19, 2024, when the speeding Porsche Taycan, driven by the teenage son of a prominent city builder, hit a motorcycle from behind around 2:30 am. The collision killed two software engineers on the spot. The teenager was reportedly returning home to Vadgaonsheri after visiting pubs in Koregaon Park’s North Main Road area.
The case against the teenage driver is being heard by the Juvenile Justice Board, while proceedings against 10 co-accused, including the driver’s parents, are ongoing in a special court. All accused are charged with conspiracy and tampering with blood sample tests and remain lodged in Yerawada Jail.
