Pune, 9th May 2025: A special court in Pune has rejected the bail pleas of Ashish Mittal and Arun Kumar Singh, accused of tampering with blood samples in the high-profile Kalyaninagar Porsche accident case. The court, presided over by Special Judge KP Kshirsagar, denied bail, citing the seriousness of the crime, strength of the evidence, and the potential impact on public interest.

The incident occurred on 18th May 2024, when a Porsche driven by a minor boy collided with a two-wheeler, killing a young man and woman. The minor driver and his two friends seated in the backseat allegedly consumed alcohol at two pubs in Mundhwa before the accident. Following the crash, all three were taken to Sassoon Hospital for blood sample collection.

According to the prosecution, Mittal and Singh conspired to alter the blood samples to protect the minors from legal repercussions. The police investigation revealed that Vishal Agarwal, his wife Shivani Agarwal, Ashpak Makandar, Amar Gaikwad, and Aditya Sood allegedly assisted in the conspiracy. Hospital staff member Atul Ghatkambale reportedly facilitated the tampering by bribing Dr. Shrihari Halanor, the then Emergency Department head, and Dr. Ajay Taware, the Forensic Department head.

The investigation further revealed that Singh instructed a staff member to pay Mittal to provide his own blood sample in place of one of the minors. Mittal was arrested on 19th August 2024, while Singh evaded arrest until he surrendered on 8th November 2024, following the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea.

The police have filed a chargesheet against all ten accused in the case, and Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hire argued against the bail pleas, highlighting the gravity of the alleged conspiracy. The court upheld the prosecution’s arguments, denying bail to Mittal and Singh.
