Pune Powers Up Amazon’s Festive Season Sales in Home, Kitchen, and Outdoor Categories

Pune, October 18, 2023: Amazon.in celebrated a surge in demand in Maharashtra, particularly Pune, with the launch of its expansive paint selection. The e-commerce giant unveiled over a thousand shades of interior and exterior paints as part of its home improvement portfolio, just in time for the festive season.

This lineup also includes waterproofing solutions, primers, enamels, and essential painting accessories like masking tapes and drop sheets. A Paint Finder tool and a paint quantity calculator have been added to help consumers make informed choices.

K N Srikanth, Amazon India’s Director, emphasized the company’s focus on the Maharashtra market, saying, “During this festive season, Pune has seen a YoY order increase of 70% in our Home, Kitchen, and Outdoor categories. We’re thrilled by the overwhelming response in the initial phase of our Amazon Great Indian Festival 2023. As many Indians opt for home makeovers during this period, we’re committed to delivering a broad range of color options conveniently to their doorsteps.”

Key Shopping Trends in Maharashtra and Pune:
1) Amazon’s customer base in Maharashtra, which holds a significant double-digit market share in Home, Kitchen, and Outdoor segments, primarily consists of Tier-2 cities and above.
2) Pune leads in adding new customers to Amazon’s Home, Kitchen, and Outdoor sectors, reflecting its rapid market growth.
3) A noticeable uptick in electric mobility: Over the past three months, 25% of electric scooter and bike orders came from Pune, which offers these products in more than 20 cities across 450 pin codes.
The Amazon Great Indian Festival, which kicked off on October 8, introduced more than 5,000 new products across various categories, with added perks such as 10% instant discounts on SBI cards, no-cost EMI options, and other card-specific offers.

Amazon India continues to invest in Maharashtra as a key market, focusing on raising e-commerce awareness among local businesses. Nearly 1.6 lakh of Amazon.in’s 12 lakh sellers are based in Maharashtra, supported by 14 Fulfilment Centers offering over 6 million cubic feet of storage space and 6 Sortation Centers. To meet festive demand, Amazon India has also generated more than 100,000 seasonal jobs nationwide, inclusive of direct and indirect roles in multiple cities.
