Pune: Preparations For Counting Of Votes For Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency By-Election Complete

Pune, 1st March 2023: All the preparations for the counting of votes of Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency have been completed. Today, in the presence of Election Inspector Neeraj Semwal and Election Decision Officer Sneha Kisve-Devkate, the officers-employees assigned for the counting of votes were given training.

Deputy Collector Siddharth Bhandare, Sanjay Teli, Assistant Election Returning Officer Radhika Havel-Bartakke, and others were present during this training held at the counting centre at Food Corporation of India (FCI) Godown, Koregaon Park.

Kisve-Devakate and Bhandare instructed the counting staff during the training today regarding the care to be taken while counting the votes and various forms to be filled. The training was provided on counting and recording candidate-wise votes on EVM, filling of forms, filling of information in Election Commission’s Encore online platform, re-sealing of EVM after counting of votes, and supply of materials.

Instructions were given on this occasion that all the instructions of the Election Commission of India should be strictly followed during the counting process.

The counting of votes will begin on 2nd March at 8.00 am at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Godown, Koregaon Park, Pune. There will be 20 rounds of vote counting for the same, and 14 tables have been set up for EVM counting and one table each for postal ballots and Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) for service voters.

First of all, postage and ETPBS will be calculated. After that, EVM counting will start. A total of around 50 officers-staff, including one counting supervisor, one counting assistant, and one micro-inspector have been appointed for the counting of votes.

After each round of counting, the Election Returning Officer will announce the candidate-wise votes through loudspeakers. After completion of all the rounds, slips will be counted randomly in five VVPAT machines. The number of votes and VVPAT slips are to be verified at the Control Unit.

Election Decision Officer Kisve-Devkate said, “Arrangements have been made at the counting centre for the media room, police coordination room, and room for election candidates and representatives.” She further informed that the parking arrangement will be in the open space on the ground of Gadge Maharaj Vidyalaya, Koregaon Park.
