Pune, 27th March 2024: With the Lok Sabha General Election looming, the administration in Pune is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations, emphasizing meticulous planning under the directives of the Election Commission. Starting April 1, over 47,000 officers and employees will undergo rigorous training to ensure the smooth conduct of the voting process.

Led by District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase, the administration is focused on organizing comprehensive training sessions for all polling personnel to familiarize them with the entire electoral procedure. Expert trainers have been enlisted to impart knowledge on voting regulations and demonstrate the handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Under the guidance of Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, manpower planning is underway to ensure adequate staffing for polling stations. A total of 47,359 employees have been appointed across the four Lok Sabha constituencies in the district.

The distribution of polling staff is as follows:

– Maval Constituency: 5,356 staff for 1,339 polling stations

– Pune Constituency: 8,072 staff for 2,018 polling stations

– Baramati Constituency: 10,064 staff for 2,516 polling stations

– Shirur Constituency: 10,036 staff for 2,509 polling stations

Additionally, 30 percent extra manpower will undergo training for Maval, Pune, Baramati, and Shirur constituencies, along with 3,773 employees across all constituencies, to be deployed as required during voting.

Approximately 40 percent of the total workforce comprises female employees, for whom necessary facilities will be provided at polling stations. Collector Dr. Diwase has instructed officials to ensure that all employees are thoroughly briefed on the voting process during training and to strictly adhere to election rules.
