Pune, 9th June 2023: In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, a special brief revision program for the Photo Electoral Roll has been announced in Pune. This program aims to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll based on the eligibility date of 1st January 2024.
During the period from 1st June 2023 to 16th October 2023, various pre-audit activities will be conducted. These activities include streamlining of polling stations, verification of entries, identification and elimination of duplicate or multiple entries, correction of errors, and obtaining photographs as per the Commission’s standards. Additionally, a time-bound plan will be developed to address discrepancies by redefining the boundaries of polling stations and verifying the list of polling stations.
The supplementary and consolidated electoral list will be prepared from 30th September to 16th October 2023, based on the qualifying date of 1st January 2024. The consolidated form electoral list will be released on 17th October 2023, marking an important milestone in the revision process.
From 17th October to 30th November 2023, the period for accepting claims and objections will be open. Special campaigns will be organized on two Saturdays and Sundays, as determined by the Chief Electoral Officer, to facilitate the submission of claims and objections. All claims and objections received will be carefully examined and resolved by 26th December 2023.
Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, the District Collector and District Election Officer, has provided this information and further stated that the final publication of the voter list will take place on 5th January 2024. This comprehensive revision process ensures that the electoral roll is accurate, up-to-date, and reflective of the eligible voters in Pune for the upcoming 2024 elections.
