Pune: Private Moneylender Jailed For Demanding Extra Money

Pune, 24th November 2022: A woman took a loan on jewellery for work. But as she needed money to pay off that loan, she took a loan from a private moneylender for six months at a five per cent interest rate.

 

The police informed that the private moneylender who demanded another Rs five lakh despite repaying the loan amount within a certain period has been arrested.

The name of the arrested person, in this case, is Santosh Ashok Lahoti (45), a resident of Shukravar Peth, Pune. Police have also registered a case against his wife, Shital Santosh Lahoti, in this matter. The said incident has happened from January 2018 till date. Vaishali Umesh Deshmukh (45), a resident of Katraj, Pune, has filed a complaint at the Deccan police station in this case.

 

Complainant Vaishali Deshmukh needed money to pay off the Gold Loan. So she took a loan of Rs 25 lakh from Santosh Lahoti for six months at five per cent interest. It was decided that he would take their flat as security, and after six months, the deed of assignment would be done in the name of the complainant.

 

As agreed, the complainant returned all the amount taken, but even after that, the accused demanded another Rs five lakh. Reportedly, he entered the complainant’s house, beat her up, and tried to forcibly take possession of the flat. Further investigation in this regard is being done by Crime Branch Unit 3.
