Pune: Proposals Approved For Digging 328 Km Long Roads; Works Likely To Complete In Monsoon

Pune, 29th April 2023: As the municipal administration has given permission to various private and government companies to lay service channels, there is a possibility that road digging will continue during the rainy season this year as well.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the proposals for digging roads of a total length of 328 km. Therefore, road digging will continue till the end of May, and since the municipal administration is likely to have to carry out the process of restoring the roads during the rainy season, citizens and motorists will have to face inconvenience and trouble this year as well.

Road digging is permitted by the municipal Road Department after the end of the monsoon. Proposals of government companies along with private companies are approved for laying various service channels. Municipal water supply, Road Department, Sewerage Department along with various works are done by field offices.

Accordingly, till 31st March 2023, the digging of roads of a total length of 328 km has been approved. These works are still ongoing. Apart from that, road digging is going on in some parts of the city to lay new water channels under the equal water supply scheme.

According to the rules of the Municipal Corporation, the road digging works are expected to be completed by 15th May. However, most of the work is still pending. Therefore, there is a possibility of getting an extension like every year to complete these works.

Only after the road digging works are completed, the process of restoring the roads will be taken up by the municipal administration. Since the monsoon is likely to start by then, like last year, roads will be asphalted and restored during the monsoon.
