Pune: Prostitution Racket Busted in Dhanori in Name of Spa Center; Owner Arrested, Two Women Rescued
Dhanori, 5th December 2024: The Bharosa Cell of the Crime Branch has uncovered a prostitution racket operating under the guise of a spa in Dhanori. The raid resulted in the arrest of the spa owner, Suraj Bharat Shahu, a resident of Vashi, Thane, and the rescue of two women who were lured into the illegal business with false promises of money.
The operation was carried out after Crime Branch officials received a tip-off about illicit activities at a spa located on the second floor of Goodwill Square Mall in the Dhanori Jakat Naka area of Vishrantwadi. To confirm the information, undercover officers posed as customers before initiating the raid.
The action was led by a team comprising Additional Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Pingle, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Ingle, and Police Inspector Sangeeta Jadhav.
The incident highlights the growing issue of prostitution rackets being run under the guise of spa centers in various parts of Pune. Similar operations have been conducted in areas like Baner and Vishrantwadi in recent days, exposing illegal activities disguised as legitimate businesses.
Following this raid, the Crime Branch has intensified its crackdown on unregulated massage centers in the city. Authorities have launched a campaign to gather information on illegal activities and ensure stricter monitoring and regulation of such establishments.
