Pune: Purandar Airport Land Survey Gains Pace; 802 Acres Measured So Far
Pune, 2nd October 2025: The land measurement process for the proposed international airport at Purandar has picked up speed, with 802 acres already surveyed, the district administration confirmed on Thursday.
Officials began the measurement exercise last Friday, soon after the deadline for farmers to submit consent letters for land acquisition ended. Authorities aim to complete the survey by October 20.
Once the measurement is completed, a proposal regarding compensation and refunds will be sent to the state government. The final land rates will be determined before the process of direct land acquisition begins.
Initially, five separate teams were deployed for the land survey. To accelerate the work, an additional team has now been formed, comprising officials from the Revenue, Forest, Public Works, Agriculture Department, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran and Purandar Upsa Irrigation Scheme.
The survey teams are also documenting fruit trees, farm wells and water channels to ensure that farmers receive appropriate compensation. “The process so far has been peaceful, and farmers have been cooperating,” district officials said.
For the Purandar airport project, land will be acquired from seven villages: Pargaon, Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Munjawadi, Khanwadi, Udachiwadi and Vanpuri. In total, 3,000 acres will be required.
During the consent period, 3,220 farmers submitted letters agreeing to hand over around 2,810 acres, clearing the way for nearly 95 percent of the required land.
The Purandar international airport, once completed, is expected to boost connectivity and economic growth in Pune and surrounding regions.
