Chinchwad, 17th November 2024: Mahavikas Aghadi’s Rahul Kalate, the official candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) from the Chinchwad constituency, has filed a written complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Kalate alleged that money and other incentives are being distributed in the Pimple Gurav area of Chinchwad, Pune district, to influence voters ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections.

Kalate asserted that these activities constitute a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and called for strict action against those responsible. He further alleged that voter identity cards have been collected by BJP office-bearers in the Pimple Gurav and Sangvi areas over the past two days. According to him, voters are being offered incentives in return for their votes. “After citizens brought this matter to our attention, we promptly filed a complaint with the ECI. Such practices undermine the democratic process,” Kalate stated. He urged the ECI to act decisively to prevent the misuse of authority by those in power.

In response to such concerns, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to citizens to report any attempts by political parties or leaders to influence voters through illegal means. Reports can be submitted via the C-Vigil app to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
