Pune, 29th December 2022: The villages of Fursungi and Uruli Devachi have been removed from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and given a new Municipal Council by the Maharashtra government. In a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP Vice President of Pune district, Rahul Shewale, asked that the newly-merged villages and a few more villages be included in the new Municipal Council.

11 villages joined Pune Municipal Corporation in October 2017; 23 villages joined in June 2021. The letter claimed that the Municipal Corporation had utterly failed to provide civic infrastructure to the newly incorporated villages.

The letter further claimed that these villages had paid additional taxes totalling many crores of rupees. The residents of this village have expressed their displeasure and disappointment as a result. It is recommended to create a new municipal council, which will relieve strain on the Pune Municipal Corporation and allow for planned growth in the villages of Hadapsar, Mohammadwadi, Kharadi, Vadgaon Sheri Khadakwasla, Sinhagad Road, and some of East Haveli.
