Pune Railway Division Conducts Safety Awareness Drive at 13 Level Crossings on International Level Crossing Awareness Day

Pune, 5th June 2025: On the occasion of International Level Crossing Awareness Day, the Pune Division of Central Railway organized a large-scale safety awareness campaign on June 5 to educate road users and local residents on safe practices at level crossings. The drive covered 13 level crossing gates across the Pune–Daund and Pune–Satara sections.

The awareness campaign was conducted at Level Crossing Gates No. 2, 4, 7, and 8 in the Pune–Daund section, and Gates No. 586, 4, 10, 19, 26, 27, 31, 32, and 33 in the Pune–Satara section. Railway safety officers and supervisors engaged with road users and nearby communities to reinforce the importance of observing railway safety protocols while crossing level crossings.

The campaign was held under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma and Additional Divisional Railway Manager P.U. Jadhav, with leadership from Senior Divisional Safety Officer Rajendra Kumar Kathal and Assistant Divisional Safety Officer Dilip Tayade. Support was extended by safety advisory team members Ajay Kumar Sinha, Ratnakar Patil, Vinay Kumar, Srivastava, and office staff Pravin Dargude, Rohit Pandit, and Ishwar Konari.

During the campaign, safety teams visited each crossing to interact directly with road users. Pamphlets detailing dos and don’ts at level crossings were distributed, and WhatsApp messages were sent to over 5,750 users. Station announcement systems were also utilized to spread awareness messages more broadly.

Key activities carried out during the campaign included:

5,500 safety pamphlets distributed

5,750 WhatsApp messages circulated

13 Nukkad Nataks (street plays) performed

5,650 road users counselled

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by Pune Division to enhance safety awareness and reduce accidents at unmanned and manned level crossings through direct public engagement and community outreach.
