Pune: Railway Staff Who Noticed Stones On Track Near Chinchwad Gets General Manager’s Safety Award

Pune, 8th November 2023: The General Manager of Central Railway, Naresh Lalwani, presented the prestigious “General Manager’s Safety Award” to eight staff members for their exemplary dedication to safety during a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on November 7, 2023.
The award ceremony recognized the alertness and commitment of railway personnel from various divisions, spanning Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Pune, and Solapur, who played pivotal roles in averting potential mishaps during their duties from August to October 2023.
Among the distinguished awardees from Pune Division was Shailendra Tripathi, Senior Section Engineer/Permanent Way. During his weld inspection duty on October 6, 2023, on the Pune-Chinchwad section, Tripathi detected obstructions on the Down line in the form of large boulders and stones. His prompt action included sending a caution order to the approaching Nagercoil Express, ensuring the track was cleaned, ultimately averting a major mishap.
The awards, consisting of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work, and a cash award of Rs 2000, were also conferred upon individuals from Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, and Solapur Divisions for their quick thinking and vigilance during various critical situations.
Naresh Lalwani, in his address, commended the awardees for their alertness and dedication to duty. He emphasized that such acts of vigilance and bravery serve as inspiring examples, motivating others to work sincerely towards ensuring the safety of passengers.
The ceremony was attended by other key figures from Central Railway, including M S Uppal, Principal Chief Safety Officer, S S Gupta, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Rajesh Arora, Principal Chief Engineer, Sunil Kumar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, and N P Singh, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer. The collective efforts of these railway personnel showcased the commitment of Central Railway to maintaining a high standard of safety across its diverse divisions.
