Pune: Raksha Rajya Mantri Applauds Southern Command’s Civil-Military Collaboration and Community Engagement
Pune, 12th August 2023: Raksha Rajya Mantri, Ajay Bhatt, today visited the Headquarters of the Army’s Southern Command in Pune.
The Raksha Rajya Mantri was warmly received by Lt Gen A K Singh, Army Commander of the Southern Command, at the Headquarters. During the visit, he received comprehensive briefings on a range of operational, training, and administrative activities undertaken by the Command within its Area of Responsibility.
Discussions included noteworthy initiatives to promote Aatmanirbhar Bharat, foster synergy among various agencies, and advance integration among the three armed services. The discussion also highlighted the significant contributions of the Indian Army and, specifically, the Southern Command, in the nation-building process. Topics covered encompassed Civil-Military collaboration, the adoption of schools under the Vidyanjali Scheme, and the construction of Amrit Sarovars for the civilian population.
In a virtual inauguration ceremony, the Raksha Rajya Mantri officially inaugurated diverse infrastructure projects executed by the Military Engineering Services in the Southern Command, with a total value exceeding 2.5 Crores. The projects comprise a Military Hospital, Swimming Pools, an Auditorium, Two Solar Power Plants, and an Ammunition Storage Facility, distributed across seven different locations within the Command’s jurisdiction.
Interacting with the command’s personnel, the Raksha Rajya Mantri extended his commendations to all ranks for their unwavering professionalism and exceptional standards of operational readiness, which significantly contribute to upholding the nation’s sovereignty. He conveyed his congratulations to the command for its exemplary role in numerous Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations within its Area of Responsibility.
Furthermore, he lauded the Southern Command’s proactive engagement with the Civil Defence Industry and Research & Development institutes, emphasizing its role in advancing the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative put forth by the Government.
