Pune: Rally Held By LGBTQ Community To Show Their Pride In Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri, 19th December 2022: On Sunday, the LGBTQ group held an ‘Abhiman Yatra’ at Pimple Saudagar.
Slogans like “Prem means love, Tumcha aamcha same,” “Hame Hamare Haq Do Jiyo Aur Jine Do,” “Maro Tali Bajao City LGBT-LGBT,” and “Don’t do dujepana, say yours to Hijras as well,” were raised on this occasion.
For the past few years, the LGBTQ community has been fighting for their rights and various demands. The state’s recruitment process for police now includes transgenders which has brought relief to the community. On this occasion, this Abhiman Yatra was taken out.
The rally was attended by several organisations from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Satara, and other cities. Over 150 persons attended the rally.
Anil Ukarande, founder and president of Yutak Trust, said, “LGBTQ individuals in society ought to be aware that they are not alone. They are accompanied by other LGBTQ individuals. Additionally, mainstream society should be aware that LGBTQ people exist. These people are like others. LGBTQ individuals can work in any industry. Equal employment opportunities are also required for LGBTQ people everywhere.”
