Pune Ranks As 7th Most Traffic-Congested City In India
Pune, 10th March 2023: Pune has become the seventh most traffic-congested city in the country. Pune is also ranked 20th in the list of cities with the slowest traffic speed. Therefore, according to the order of the state government, IIT Mumbai will now study the traffic congestion in Pune city.
Bad roads and lack of infrastructure are responsible for the slowness of transport, more than the increasing number of vehicles. This contradicts the general belief that increasing the number of vehicles leads to traffic jams and slows down traffic.
However, apart from the traffic situation, the Pune city is hailed as the most livable city in the country. Generally, Pune residents face traffic jams between 9.30 am and 11 am and 6 pm and 8 pm. The problem of traffic congestion in the city is getting worse day by day. Finally, the state government has given an order to IIT Mumbai to study the traffic congestion in Pune city.
Ministry officials, representatives of IITs, and municipal commissioners held a meeting through video conference on Thursday (9th March) regarding traffic congestion in Pune. The municipal officials have suggested that a report should be prepared in this regard.
