Pune: Registered Labourers Will Get Rs 4.75 Lakh To Buy Their Own House: Minister Suresh Khade
Pune, 7th October 2022: “During the COVID pandemic, the construction labourers faced lots of problems as they did not have their own homes. Considering that, efforts are being taken by the state government to provide homes to the registered labourers and all collector offices have been ordered to provide information about vacant government lands. For that, Rs. 2.75 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for housing and additional Rs. 2 lakh from Ministry of Labour, Maharashtra, which comes to total Rs. 4.75 lakh will be given to the labourers to buy a house. We request all developers to participate in this initiative,” said Suresh Khade, Minister of Labour, Government of Maharashtra.
He was speaking during ‘Pride Best Facility Award 2022’ organized by CREDAI Pune Metro along with its Labour Welfare Committee held at Hyatt, Pune today. The Awards in its second edition were held under the Labour Camp Competition with support from Pride Group and Vilas Javdekar Developers and were presented to the association’s developer members, who provide best facilities to their labourers.
Dignitaries including Madhuri Misal, BJP MLA, Satish Magar, Chairman, CREDAI National, Sunil Furde, President, Credai-Maharashtra, Members of CREDAI- Pune Metro including Anil Pharande, President, Ranjit Naiknavare, VP, Aditya Javdekar, VP, Arvind Jain, Secretary, J.P. Shroff, Chairman, Kushal CREDAI, Sapna Rathi, Program Convenor, Parag Patil, Milind Talathi, Co-convenors, Kunal Chugh and KunalBhatia, Mukesh Gadda, Members of Labour Welfare Committee, Dr. D.K. Abhyankar, Director General were present on the occasion. The show was anchored by Sameer Belvalkar.
“We also want to make available ESI hospitals in every district along with housing for the labourers,” said Khade who also distributed safety kits to labourers at Kushal’s World Skills Centre at AISSMS College earlier.
This year a total of 118 entries from developers were received out of which 85 entries were chosen for the presentation. Out of that, 45 entries were shortlisted for the site visit by the jury from the Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF). The awards were given in the form of cash and a trophy to the winners.
Accordingly, the gold and silver awards were for 3 main categories based on labour strength, which included 21-100, 100-300 and 300 plus categories.
In the 21-100 category, the gold award was presented to S.J. Contracts Pvt Ltd, while the silver awards were given to Panschil Realty, Rucha Promoter and Developers and Malpani Group.
In the 100-300 category, the gold award was given to S.J. Contracts Pvt Ltd while the silver award were presented to K. Raheja Corp and Keywest Realty Pvt Ltd.
In 300 plus category the gold award was given to Pride Builders while silver was offered to Pegasus Properties.
In the special category awards based on several criteria, Pride Builders received the award for safety measures, health and hygiene, women workers welfare, crèche and innovation, while Truspace Properties and Pegasus Properties got the award for BOCW registration. Rohan Builders and S.J. Contracts Pvt Ltd received the award for skill development for their labourers.
Satish Magar said, “The BOCW Board has a fund of Rs 10,000 Crore, but board members and officials are afraid to spend it. If there is an accident at the site of the construction project, the developer of the respective project has to suffer a lot. Therefore, we request the state government to reduce their suffering by placing the ‘accident’ and the ‘accident due to negligence’ into two separate categories.”
Ranjit Naiknavare said, “We started this competition two years ago with the intention of encouraging developers to provide better facilities for construction workers. If they are given other facilities apart from salary, they will prefer to work in Maharashtra, which will also benefit the customers and help the project to be completed at the earliest.”
J.P. Shroff said, “The competition has received a good response from the builders. This is a positive start and we want this to reach the whole of Maharashtra. For that we request the state government to cooperate for this.”
Madhuri Misal said, “The government is taking efforts to provide housing to the workers and to link it with the labour insurance scheme, for which the developers should take the efforts.”
Anil Pharande requested Khade that the state government should provide funds for home construction of construction workers.
