Kalyani Nagar, 19th May 2025: Exactly one year has passed since the shocking Porsche crash in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar that claimed the lives of two young IT engineers. A minor boy, the son of a prominent builder, was driving the Porsche Taycan in an intoxicated state when he crashed into a two-wheeler carrying the victims.
The fatal accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on 19th May 2024, near the Landmark Society in Kalyani Nagar. The high-speed collision instantly killed Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
The luxury car, which bore no number plates, had just exited a party celebrating the minor’s Class 12 results. Inside the car were the 17-year-old driver, two of his minor friends, and the family’s driver. Before coming to a halt, the vehicle also struck another car. The incident triggered national outrage, especially after it emerged that the accused was allegedly intoxicated and was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board under lenient conditions. This sparked widespread public and media criticism.
Subsequent investigations uncovered a massive attempt to tamper with evidence. Blood samples of the accused and his friends were reportedly swapped at Sassoon General Hospital to conceal alcohol consumption. This conspiracy involved hospital staff, doctors, and the minor’s family members. Multiple chargesheets have since been filed against 13 individuals, including the minor’s parents, doctors, hospital employees, and middlemen. The case has faced repeated delays due to ongoing bail and discharge applications.
