The scheme unraveled when the victim was contacted via social media by the accused fraudster, who portrayed a rosy picture of substantial earnings through online tasks. Capitalizing on Gupta’s trust, the scammer coerced him to make a series of withdrawals totaling the aforementioned amount within a month. False pretenses were employed to elicit the transfers.

It was only after the job did not materialize that Gupta realized he had fallen prey to a calculated deception. Subsequently, he reported the incident to the police, leading to the initiation of a formal investigation. A case has been registered against the cyber criminals involved, with police are currently investigating into the matter.
