Pune: Residents of Sadesatra Nali Protest Against Serum Institute for Blocking Service Road

Hadapsar, 26th April 2023: Today, the Serum Institute of India (SII) blocked access to the service road for the residents of Sadesatra Nali, Hadapsar by excavating a trench. The access to the road abruptly came to an end, causing inconvenience to the neighborhood residents and regular bystanders.
The road was blocked by putting up tin sheets and constructing a trench. The situation escalated when the locals and police had an acrimonious disagreement.
Inspector Arvind Gokule of Hadapsar Police Station addressed the residents and urged them to settle the conflict amicably. He pleaded with the populace to meet with Serum Institute of India officials to settle the matter, but the locals were resolute that they would not end the protest until the SII found a resolution. Reportedly, SII officials then listened to the issues of residents, and it was resolved after a meeting with Adar Poonawala.
During the meeting with Adar Poonawala, Sandeep Tupe and Rupesh Tupe strongly urged SII to maintain the service road open because it has been a primary commuting route for many years.
MLA Chetan Tupe, Former Deputy Chairman Sandeep Tupe, Former Sarpanch Rupesh Tupe, Bhushan Tupe, Former Deputy Sarpanch Nitin Tupe, Mahesh Tupe, Pradeep Gogawale, Deepak Devkar, Subhash Adsul, Balasaheb Todmal, Sunny Todmal, Tushar Bhosale, along with other officials, were present at the meeting.
