Pune: Retired Police Officer And Wife Died In Road Accident In Wagholi

Wagholi, 26th April 2023: A couple riding on a two-wheeler was tragically killed after being hit by a dumper at Kesnand Phata, Wagholi around 1 pm. The collision was so severe that the dumper dragged the two-wheeler for a few meters.

Both Ashok Martand Kale and Varsha Ashok Kale died instantly as the wheel went over their heads. The accident caused a massive traffic jam in the area.

The couple, who resided in Kasba Peth, Pune, had been on their way to Valki village in Rahu taluka for agricultural work when the accident occurred. They were turning towards Rahu Road from the intersection at Kesnand Phata when the heavy dumper coming from behind hit their bike and dragged them forward. The dumper driver, identified as Bhaskar Pandharinath Kand, fled the scene of the accident. The dumper involved in the accident is owned by Swapneel Bhumkar.

Ashok Martand Kale, a retired police officer, was currently focused on agricultural work, while Varsha was a housewife. The couple leaves behind two children.
