Pune: Road Rage Incident: Lawyer Assaulted for Overtaking, Two Arrested in Chakan
Chakan, 12th December 2023: A lawyer was brutally assaulted by a group of individuals in a road rage incident that occurred on Sunday at Talegaon Chowk in Chakan. The Chakan police have taken swift action, arresting two suspects involved in the assault.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sonaji Lala Mirpagar (30 years old, Chakan) and Deepak Ganesh Vairag (22 years old, Chakan). Additionally, a case has been registered against six other persons linked to the assault. The victim, Ujma Abdul Rahim Pathan (30 years old, Junnar), filed a formal complaint at the Chakan Police Station.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded when the victim was passing by in his car. The accused intercepted the lawyer at Talegaon Chowk in Chakan, initiating an argument about the overtaking. The situation escalated, resulting in the assault on the plaintiff’s driver, Saddam Sheikh. The assailants also snatched a chain valued at Rs. 30,000 from the lawyer’s neck during the altercation.
In response to the complaint filed by Ujma Abdul Rahim Pathan, the Chakan police promptly arrested two individuals, while efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the assault.
