Pimpri Chinchwad, 16th April 2025: A minor road incident turned violent on Sunday night in Chikhali after a pedestrian was allegedly attacked by a group of men following an argument. The altercation began when the leg of a motorcyclist brushed against a 24-year-old man walking with a friend, according to police officials.

“The victim, who works as a car driver, was heading to a cake shop with a friend when a motorcycle with three riders passed by, and one of the pillion riders’ legs touched him. This sparked a heated exchange,” said a Chikhali police officer.

Tensions escalated quickly. The three riders called in reinforcements, and within moments, six individuals allegedly surrounded the pedestrian and assaulted him with a sharp weapon.

“He sustained a head injury during the attack. He also reported that his gold chain was snatched in the chaos,” the officer added.

Police have registered a case of attempted murder against the six accused and have arrested two of them so far. Efforts are underway to trace the remaining suspects.

However, the incident took a twist when one of the accused filed a counter-complaint. In his statement, he alleged that the pedestrian and his four friends were the aggressors.

“The complainant claimed he was verbally abused and attacked with a weapon, resulting in an injury to his left hand,” said the officer. Based on this version, a separate case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt has been filed against the pedestrian and his associates. No arrests have been made in connection with the cross-complaint yet.
