Pune, 16th August 2023: Wadgaon Sheri’s representative in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Sunil Tingre, has voiced his frustration regarding the lack of action from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in addressing the longstanding problems faced by Lohegaon residents. Tingre has suggested that if the issues concerning inadequate roads, potholes, water supply, and other concerns are not dealt with, Lohegaon should be removed from PMC’s jurisdiction.

Tingre’s exasperation arises from the fact that Lohegaon has been grappling with road, pothole, and water supply issues for the past six years, with no satisfactory solutions from PMC despite repeated pleas from residents.

On August 14, PMC’s Additional Commissioner, Vikas Dhakane, visited Lohegaon to inspect the persistent problems faced by the locals. During the visit, Dhakane assured the residents that funds would be secured from the state government to address road repairs. He also pledged that the relevant PMC department would formulate an effective plan to promptly resolve road-related problems.

MLA Sunil Tingre highlighted the perilous state of Lohegaon’s roads during the inspection, emphasizing the threat they pose to motorists’ safety. Despite the critical condition of the roads, Pune Municipal authorities have failed to take appropriate measures, leading to persistent potholes.

Apart from road issues, Tingre also pointed out the inadequate water supply problem. Despite being under PMC’s jurisdiction for six years, Lohegaon has not received adequate water supply, causing inconvenience to its residents.

During the inspection, Tingre and PMC’s Additional Commissioner Vikas Dhakane explored potential development options for Lohegaon. They assessed various locations within the area and discussed potential solutions for the ongoing problems. The inspection included the participation of officials from the Road Department, such as Chief Engineer Vijay Kulkarni, along with local residents and community members.
