Pune: Robbers Loot Firecrackers and Mobile Phones Worth Rs 30,000 in Baner During Diwali
Baner, 3rd November 2024: In an incident of looting during Diwali, thieves targeted a firecracker shop in the Baner Road area. The culprits not only stole firecrackers and mobile phones worth ₹30,000 but also assaulted the shop owner and his nephews.
The incident took place at the Sairaj Hitam shop, located at Kalamkar Chowk, Baner, in the early hours of Friday morning. According to the police, the shop owner, along with his nephew, had closed the store for the night and was resting inside. Around 3:30 a.m., three to four thieves arrived on two-wheelers and forcibly entered the shop. The thieves attacked the uncle and nephew, who were fast asleep, before looting firecrackers, mobile sets, and money bags.
The injured victims immediately reported the incident to the Baner police station. Police Sub-Inspector Patil is leading the investigation into the matter.
In a separate incident, a woman in Vishrantwadi became the victim of chain snatching. Two unidentified thieves on a two-wheeler snatched her mangalsutra, worth ₹80,000, as she was walking on the road near her residence in Yerawada.
The theft occurred around 10 p.m., and the victim has filed a complaint at the Vishrantwadi police station. Police Sub-Inspector Sudha Chaudhary is investigating the case.
Both cases have raised concerns about rising incidents of theft during the festive season, and the police are intensifying their efforts to apprehend the culprits.
