Pune: Round Glass Academy Claims Victory with 4-1 Win Over Army Boys in Final of 8th SNBP All India Boys (Under-16) Hockey Tournament

Pune, 13th October 2024: Round Glass Academy delivered a dominant performance to claim the 8th SNBP All India Boys (Under-16) Hockey Tournament at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi-Mhalunge, on Sunday.

In the final, Round Glass who finished third last year, securing a convincing 4-1 victory over Army Boys Sports Company, Bangalore in an intense match.

The game started with both teams displaying disciplined play, but Round Glass Academy gained the upper hand when Arshdip Singh (17’) capitalized on a penalty-corner, giving his team an early lead.

Shortly after, Anurag Singh (20’ doubled the advantage with another well-executed penalty corner in, putting the pressure on the opposition.

Army Boys Sports Company managed to reduce the deficit early in the second half, when Arjun (32’) found the back of the net. However, Round Glass Academy responded strongly, with Arjandeep Singh (42nd) scoring and restore their two-goal cushion.

The final blow came when Varinder Singh (57’) sealed the victory with a penalty stroke, leaving no doubt about Round Glass Academy’s superiority.

Round Glass Academy controlled the match with precision, particularly excelling at set-pieces, as two of their goals came from penalty corners and another from a penalty stroke. Despite a spirited effort from Army Boys Sports Company, Bangalore, they were unable to match the attacking prowess of their opponents.

The third place was claimed by Dhyanchand Academy. 

In the play-off Dhyanchand Academy pushed out Ritu Rani Academy 4-2 in a one-sided encounter. 

A brace by Yogesh (22′, 24′ was the highlight if the game, Tushar Sharma (30′) added to end the half time score at 3-0.

Changing ends, Ritu Rani Academy had Sanjot Singh (38′) and Navpreet Mahey (42′) convert penalty corners. 

Dhyanchand Academy added the fourth goal in the closing moments through Ravi Rajbhar (58′) off a penalty-corner conversion.

Later the prizes were given away by chief guest Parmashree Dr. Dhanraj Pillay, in the presence of D.K Bhosale, Founder Chairman, S.E Society’s SNBP Group of Institutes, Adv. Dr. Rutuja Bhosale, Director, S.E Society’s SBP Group of Institutes, Dr. Vrushali Bhosale, President S.E Society’s, SNBP Group of Institutes, Ms. Devyani Bhosale, Director, S.E Society’s, SNBP Group of Institutes and Firoz Shaikh, Director of Physical Education, SNBP Group of Institutes.
