Pune, 1st July 2023: Pune Railway Station witnessed a heated incident recently, as a Railway Protection Force (RPF) official resorted to an unconventional method to wake up sleeping passengers on the platform. The incident was captured on a mobile device and quickly spread across various social media platforms, igniting a wave of mixed reactions.

One regular commuter, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed empathy for both the RPF official and the affected passengers. “It’s not the fault of either the officer or the passengers,” the individual noted. “People are left with no choice but to sleep on the platform when trains are delayed for hours. What can passengers do when they have been stranded for more than 10 hours?”

Responding to the incident, Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Indu Dubey acknowledged the inconvenience caused by passengers sleeping on the platform. However, Dubey expressed disappointment in the manner in which the situation was handled, deeming it inappropriate for counseling passengers. The DRM affirmed that the staff member involved has received appropriate guidance on dealing with passengers in a manner that upholds their dignity, while maintaining a polite and decent approach. Dubey further conveyed sincere regret over the incident.

The concerned RPF staff has been removed from passenger area duty. He will be given refresher training in soft skills before his redeployment in passenger intensive area. Inconvenience caused to passengers is deeply regretted, Informed RPF Official.
