Pune: Rs 14 Lakh Seized On Last Day Of Campaigning In Chinchwad

Chinchwad, 24th February 2023: The Static Surveillance Team (SST) appointed for the Chinchwad assembly by-election seized cash worth Rs 14 lakh in Dalvinagar. The cash was found in a vehicle in Dalvinagar’s Mandai area on Friday afternoon.

During the election period, the Static Surveillance Team is monitoring the movement of illegal goods, liquor, cash, and weapons. During the investigation by this team in the Dalvinagar area of Chinchwad, the team found cash of Rs 14 lakh in a private vehicle in the Dalvinagar area.

The Income Tax Department was immediately informed about this as per the rules of the Election Commission. After that, the Income Tax Department team reached the spot. The person concerned, the vehicle, and the cash found have been handed over to the Income Tax Department after making a report for further action.

Vehicles are being inspected in various areas in Chinchwad Assembly Constituency by the SST. Action is being taken by this team and a close watch is being kept to ensure that no untoward incident takes place regarding violation of the code of conduct.

The team is checking Toll Booths and Checkposts. Through this team, the work has been strengthened in the last 72 hours before the voting. This team has an important responsibility to prevent illegal influence and incitement of voters.

The model code of conduct is being implemented and all the concerned teams should ensure that this code of conduct is not violated in any way, the Election Decision officer Sachin Dhole has instructed. Any impropriety in connection with the election will not be tolerated. Sachin Dhole has also warned that strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
