Pune, 2nd March 2026: A major capacity expansion has been cleared at Hadapsar Railway Station with the approval of a ₹60.05 crore infrastructure project centred on the construction of a new High-Level (HL) Platform 4 and associated connectivity works.

The proposed Platform 4, estimated at nearly ₹40.7 crore across two phases, will be developed after the acquisition of 5,090 square metres of land. Railway authorities said the new platform will include a 4,100 square metre Cover Over Platform (COP) to provide shelter for passengers.

Planned passenger amenities on Platform 4 include separate toilet blocks for men, women and divyangjan, along with telecom infrastructure such as coach guidance boards, digital clocks and public announcement speakers. To accommodate waiting passengers, 100 four-seater steel benches will be installed.

As part of the expansion, a new 6-metre-wide Foot Overbridge (FOB) will be constructed at the Pune end of the station at a cost of ₹14.17 crore. The FOB will connect Platform 1, the island platforms 2 and 3, and the upcoming Platform 4, enabling smoother passenger movement across the station. An additional ₹5.18 crore has been allocated for station lighting, shifting Overhead Equipment (OHE) masts, and installing three lifts linked to the new FOB.

The approval of Platform 4 comes alongside ongoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Phase I of the ₹22.86 crore modernization project has reached 96 percent physical completion and 93.41 percent financial progress.

Completed works under Phase I include four new station buildings (A, B, C and D), a 12-metre-wide Foot Overbridge, a skywalk, upgraded station façade and portico, improvements to the circulating area and approach road, platform surfacing, landscaping and compound walls.

The remaining works under Phase I are in advanced stages, with lift and escalator installation at 60 percent completion and comprehensive illumination works at 90 percent.

The addition of Platform 4 is expected to enhance operational capacity and support growing passenger traffic at Hadapsar, which has witnessed increased rail movement in recent years.
