Pune: Rs 60,000 Extorted From Man Near Swargate For ‘Accident’

Swargate, 12th December 2022: Three persons extorted Rs 40,000 from a young man by threatening him to pay them as compensation, stating that he caused an accident. They also asked for Rs 60,000 from the young man’s friend – 40,000 online and 20,000 in cash.

 

The incident took place on Saturday (December 10) around 10 pm near Pune-Satara Road and Laxminarayan Theatre. Ketankumar Vasantrao Howal (30), a resident of Katraj, has filed a complaint at Dattawadi Police Station. Accordingly, a case has been registered against three.

 

According to the information given by the police, Ketankumar was going home on a two-wheeler around 10 pm on December 10. At that time, a group of boys on two-wheelers stopped him and said that there have been two accidents due to him.

 

They threatened him to pay Rs 40,000 as compensation for the accident. They also asked his friend to pay Rs 40,000 online. After that, they took Rs 20,000 from the ATM.

 

A search operation is underway against the accused in this case. Police sub-inspector Chandrakant Kamthe is investigating the case further
